Presenting the Shipibo Tapestries woven by the San Juan Shipibo Community
This Shipibo Tapestry is 63cm by 142 cm (24.8 inches by 55.9 inches)Â and is woven in Shipibo Icaros. This sacred cloth would traditionally be worn as a skirt and can be used as either a skirt or an alter cloth for your sacred space.
This sacred tapestry shows the curves of the Ucayali River along which all of the 56 Shipibo-Konibo Communities are located.
Historically the Shipibo Tapestries were woven as visual records of shamanic visions seen within the world of Ayahuasca and exchanged for rice, salt and candles upon the banks of the Ucayali to offer the Shipibo what the jungle did not provide.
Today many Shipibo Women and families struggle to live sustainably, our vision is to bridge Shipibo women to a global marketplace so they may peacefully continue to weave and live upon their ancestral lands
Thank you for your support of our vision
