We are moved to invite you to join us on a powerful healing retreat that includes a journey with 2 Peruvian ancestral lineage keepers, the Shipibo-Konibo  (Amazon) and the Q’ero (Andean)

This retreat begins with an Ayahuasca Retreat with 6 ceremonies,  where the medicine is served by Maestro Hernan Fernandez Romaina. Maestro Hernan is a Shipibo Healer with 30 years of experience with the medicine. In the jungle Maestro Hernan is known as the Maestro of the Maestros and has trained many Shipibo Maestros in their path with the medicine.

Maestro Hernan comes from a long line of healers and first drank the Medicine when he was 8 years old, began his first Dieta to become a Maestro at the age of 14 through working with his grandfather Jose Romaina Bardales. Learning from his Grandfather Maestro Hernan has dedicated his life to the service of the plants and is committed to fully sharing the medicine with all who sit in ceremony or Diet with him.

After his grandfather passed, Maestro Hernan has had two other key teachers and has worked in multiple Ayahuasca healing centers in Iquitos, Pucallpa and Tarapoto which has grown Maestro Hernan into the powerful teacher he is today.

Maestro Hernan is a powerful healer and holds and encyclopedic knowledge of the sacred plants of the jungle pharmacy which has been passed down to him traditionally, through oral transmission and through the energetic transmission of wisdom held within the Master Plant dietas. Maestro Hernan sits with 35 dieted plants and to sit in ceremony with him is a humbling and deeply healing experience.

The retreat is facilitated and coordinated by Rachel Pashepuna Tantamunay who is apprenticing with Maestro Hernan. Rachel is a cultural and medicine bridger who has dedicated the last 9 years of her life to the continuation and preservation of the Shipibo-konibo Ancestry, stood in service of many of the Shipibo Villages through her project to help women in the jungle communities who are many hours boat ride away from the city of Pucallpa to have access to a Global Market Place for the sale of their Artisan Crafts in a way that can be of benefit to the whole Shipibo Village and the cultural sustainability of the lineage. Rachel is also committed to the continuation and preservation of the ancestral medicine lineages that the Shipibo have held sacred for so long and together Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay are committed to sharing the voice of the medicine with the Global Collective.

The nature of a Shipibo Maestro is to guide those seeking healing within the medicine ceremony of Ayahuasca and to share knowledge arising from the Sacred world during the day. Everyone who is curious to join this retreat will be invited to a heart sharing circle with Rachel Tantamunay following the completion of a Medicine Intake form.

Within the heart sharing circle we shall explore with you more deeply your call to medicine at this time and share with you how to prepare your body, mind and soul for an Ayahuasca Journey with the sacred plants, we shall share with you all that you need to prepare for your unique and sovereign journey with the Medicine, so that you are prepared to enter into the world of medicine in a fully prepared and guided way.

For a Shipibo Maestro every patient is different and each of your calls for healing is also different, it is necessary for us to assess your call for healing both in and out of the plant world. The heart sharing circle is the first step in our assessment.

The second step is anaylsis within an Ayahuasca ceremony.

Before a Shipibo Maestro offers any treatment, either in an Ayahuasca Ceremony or in the from of Plant treatments such as Vomitivos (purgative Plant treatment), Plant teas, Plant Saunas, Plant Baths or a period of time in a Plant dieta treatment (where plants are dieted for curative reasons ) we have a need to asses your energetic body, your heart, your way of thinking, your body, your emotions, your soul and your spirit.

The first ceremony in any treatment with the Shipibo-Konibo Lineage is always analysis and clearing. In this sense the way in which a Shipibo Doctor works is very similar to that of allopathic medicine, we must first asses our patients before we know what treatment they need.

Both Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay are dedicated to sharing the ancestral wisdom of the Shipibo Ayahausca Medicine Lineage in a traditional way.

As such the nature of this retreat will include 6 Ayahuasca Ceremonies in which the retreat participants will drink Ayahuasca in 4 Ceremonies.

The first Ayahausca Ceremony will be held by Maestro Hernan from distance in the Amazon Jungle. This will be on an arranged day and time for all participants so that everyone has the opportunity to concentrate and connect to this ceremony should they feel to. In this ceremony Maestro Hernan will assess all of the patients and the plant treatments needed for all the retreat participants on their healing journey. Maestro Hernan will then gather the plants needed from the jungle and bring them to the retreat in the Sacred Valley of the Inkas, Cusco.

The Second Ayahuasca Ceremony will be held as the opening ceremony in the Tantamunay Healing House where Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay will drink the Medicine and the retreat participants will have an opportunity to experience a traditional Ayahuasca Ceremony.

Traditionally for many Shipibo -Konibo villagers seeking healing it was customary for the Maestro to drink Ayahuasca whilst the villager sat or slept in the maloca. The following day the Maestro would bring back information from the Plant world to his patients and share what he saw in his visions, this may be information or the next steps needed for the healing of the patient.

In all of her years of service to Shipibo-Konibo Lineage, centering around Shipibo led and owned Ayahuasca Retreat Centres, Rachel Tantamunay has observed the multiple gifts for retreat participants in beginning an Ayahuasca Retreat in this way. For the Maestros it offers the space to analyze the patients and for those who maybe coming to Ayahuasca for the first time it offers an opportunity to orientate to the rituals and practices in an Ayahuasca Ceremony before drinking the medicine for the first time.

It is known that the journey with Ayahuasca calls for a lot of trust in the medicine and for those from the Global collective coming to the Medicine for the first time, attending an Ayahuasca Ceremony without drinking is a invitation to receive some of the gifts of the lineage working in this traditional way.

Following these 2 Traditional Ayahuasca Ceremonies all Retreat participants will then be invited to drink Ayahuasca in 4 Ayahuasca Cermonies, served by Maestro Hernan Fernandez Romaina and each ceremony will be supported by a bilingual facilitation team that have been trained by the Shipibo Lineage as facilitators who work alongside Shipibo-Konibo Facilitators.

Following each ceremony there will be an integration circle, which will be held in therapeutic presence by Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay who is in the process of completing her Somatic Plant Medicine Integration Training with the Beloved Atria Tan.  As Rachel also sits with Master Plant Dieta, and has experience of holding space for integration which spans many years,  the Integration journey will be both plant guided and Somatically guided whilst presenced and shared with Maestro Hernan so that he can share his lineage perspective of all that is naturally arising to tend to following each ceremony he has served.

Throughout the retreat each participant will have a plant treatment plan arising for them from the sacred world of Ayahuasca, which is guided by the sacred plant spirits as to which plants are needed for the healing of each unique souls journey, this will be shared with each retreat participant in the integration circle following the first ceremony of this retreat. This can consist of plant baths, saunas, teas, vomitivos or plant treatments.

Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay will explain the essence of each plant treatment to the participants.

As it is our natural way to share the medicine with all who come to our retreats during the retreat we shall also hold the space for wisdom sharing circles so that all participants have an invitation to connect more deeply to the wisdom held within the Shipibo-Konibo medicine lineage and way of life.

This will include:

  • Wisdom sharing circle about the sacred use of Mapacho and Agua Florida in an Ayahuasca Ceremony
  • Wisdom Sharing circle about Master Plant Dietas and the relationship between plants and Maestros
  • Wisdom Sharing circle about the different types of Icaro in the world of Ayahuasca
  • Wisdom Sharing Circle about the Kene: The Meaning of the sacred visions of Ayahuasca
  • Wisdom Sharing Circle about how to sew the Kene facilitated by the wife of Maestro Hernan
  • Wisdom Sharing Circle about the Ancestral village way of life, the essence frequencies of collaboration and unity that birth from there and sharing about the Shipibo-konibo way of life from an ancestral viewpoint.
  • Wisdom sharing circle about right relationship between plants and Maestro.

Following the close of the final ceremony we shall step into the next part of the retreat which is to hold the space for the retreat participants to take care of the medicine they received. This will be a combination of what is named post dieta care and supported with somatic integration work.

In Plant medicine work, time and space are very important to hold space for the medicine to continue to penetrate all of your bodies, your mind, your heart, your emotions, your body, your soul and your spirit.

It takes time for the medicine to do this and as Shipibo Maestros we are called to support this part of your process. This will be done through post dieta care provided by Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay. Ayahuasca begins her journey with us the moment that we say yes in the heart and continues her journey with us once we have formed our personal relationship with her,  so Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay are present with your journey before, during and after each retreat.

As we are also called to play are part in the unity of lineages upon our earth,  the second part of the retreat will be an opportunity to walk with the Medicine of the Jungle upon the Apus of the Andes.

Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay will accompany the guests on their post dieta care and journey with them on an exploration of the wisdom held within the Andean Shamanic Practices and Medicine Wisdom

This will include:

  • A Sacred Plant walk with an Andean healer upon the Apu of Chicon to gather herbs and learn of the plants and their uses
  • A visit to an Andean Clinic to learn how to gather, prepare and apply plants for the treatment of fractures, breaks and bodily complaints. All of our participants are invited to play an active role tending to the patients of the clinic.
  • A dispacho ceremony with q’ero Maestro Nicolas Glotes Apaza who will explain the meanings of all offerings to Pachamama in a traditional q’ero offering to the earth as well as a cleansing dispacho in the local woodlands and a coca reading.
  • A visit to the Sacred Site of Naupa Ingelsia to connect to one of the Ancient Ruins of the Andean Lineage accompanied by Maestro Nicolas, Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay.

In the week of post dieta care Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay will also be presencing the continuation of Integration care of the Ayahuasca Ceremonies held in a Somatic and plant guided way, both individually and within a group as guided by the needs of all participants.

Within this retreat Maestro Hernan and Rachel Tantamunay have a lived agreement of honouring all beings as equal and as such we shall be sharing any blessings arising from this offering equally between us and offering the blessings that arise from this retreat to the continuation of both of our journeys on behalf of the beloved plants that we sit with.

Following the close of this retreat all participants shall be offered a Somatic Plant Medicine Integration session after one month as part of this retreat package.
